One of the most beautiful temples in India, the Lotus Temple which is 40 m high popularly known as Baha’i Temple and is built in the flowerlike shape of a half-opened Lotus flower. It is located near Bahapur village, it is considered as the seventh Baha'i House of Worship in the world. It was finished in 1986, serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent. The main objectives of Bahai Faith at creating a new race of men free from all sorts of bias and man-made restrictions.
The Baha'i House of Worship, also known as the Lotus Temple in Delhi is a monument devoted to the unity of God, integrity of all religions. It bears as yet another effort of the Baha'is of the country to forwarding the intension of unity in diversity in the society. This virgin white marble temple is also known as Taj of Modern India. It has been manufactured using marble, sand, cement, and dolomite and is fenced by groomed lawns.
The Lotus Temple of New Delhi is prominent in its design. The 9 pools and passes are covered by twenty seven tremendous immense white petals of an unfolding lotus made of marble. The tour remains incomplete without visiting Lotus Temple in New Delhi.

It has won numerous architectural awards and been boasted in many of newspaper and magazines. The faith lies in prayer of the God. The Lotus temple corresponds the liberal views and technological ideas of Baha’i faith and intends the purity of the Lord. The temple has a prominent central hall for meditation. A complete silence is kept in the main hall of prayer, so that the devotees can pray and meditate peacefully. The height of the hall is about 34.27m. It is said that daily about 4 million people visit the Lotus temple.
The Baha’i laws stressed that the House of Worship is a place where people of all religions assembles to worship God without any restrictions. The Baha’i practices of law specify that only the sacred scripture of the Baha’i religious belief and other religions can be read or chanted inside in any language.
The timing for the Prayer sessions held four times a day. Prayers of all religions are held during these sessions. The timings for prayer sessions are as under:
10:00AM to 10:15AM
12:00PM to 12:15PM
3:00PM to 3:15 PM
5:00 PM to 5:15 PM

1) In the year 1987, Mr. Fariborz Sahba, the Architect of the Baha’i House of Worship, was awarded by the UK-based Institution of Structural Engineers, with the award for excellence in religious art and architecture 1987,
2) In the year 1987, Mr. F. Sahba for the design of the Baha’i House of Worship near New Delhi also honored for "Excellence in Religious Art and Architecture" by the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture, Affiliate of the American Institute of Architects, Washington, D.C.
3) In the year 1989, the Temple received an award from the Maharashtra-India Chapter of the American Concrete Institute for "excellence in a concrete structure".
4) In the year 1994 edition of Encyclopedia Britannica, in its 'Architecture' section gives recognition to the Temple as an outstanding achievement of the time.
5) In the year 2000, Mr. Fariborz Sahba, the architect of the Lotus Temple was awarded with "GlobArt Academy 2000" by GlobArt Academy in Vienna.
